taping Abbies ears

First you need the flopped ears of a puppy, scissors and tape. I use bandage tape for people.

We shave the puppies ears, then cut a strip of tape and place it on the back side of the ear. I always make sure the ear is turned toward the front of the puppies head.

Then I fold the tape around the ear. I tape the ear flat as it would when it will stand on its own. Do both ears.

I then cut a long piece of tape and pull the ears together as shown. It places the ear upright on the puppies head. I leave the ears taped for 3 days and take them down. Wipe the ears with alchol to clean them if the ears are standing I leave them alone. If they fall then repeat the process until the ears stand. If the ears are not standing after removal of the tape I do let the ears breathe for the day and retape.

To remove the tape I slip the scissors between the ear and tape on the backside of the ear never the inside.

These little clippers are great. They were orginally bought for our horses but they do wonders in trimming ears, rears and all other small areas on your dog. I got these at our tack store.
